STAR CITY, AR- Even though he died when he was just 19-years-old, Zack Towers had a full life that loved ones remembered Saturday.

They shared stories of the young man with a big personality.

The senior Star City football player collapsed November 1st, 2012 in a game against Crossett.

Towers underwent brain surgery however was slowly recovering, even growing well enough to attend the Star City High Football game in September of 2013.

Towers passed away Wednesday at Arkansas Children’s Little Rock.

His funeral was full of tears but also many laughs were shared by friends who spoke and a nurse who took care of him after his injury.

“He consumed more fishsticks than anyone I ever met,” one friend and fellow football player said.

“He would make fishsticks for three people but he would only give me six and I would ask why he didn’t give them evenly and he said ‘well I made them’.” He laughed.

“I made you a ring promising I would forever be your nurse Jackie and you’d forever be my most special patient Zacky,” said the nurse who took care of Zack after his injury.

“Your picture will forever hang on my mirror, your bracelet forever on my wrist. I love you and you will forever be my sunshine.” She said before leading the funeral in singing You Are My Sunshine, the song she sang to Zack every morning.
