LITTLE ROCK, AR –  Arkansas State Police working alongside the State Police Crimes Against Children Division in processing Amber Johnson, 28.

The North Little Rock woman is in custody after officials say she was holding a 15-year-old girl against her will and exploiting her for sex.

“It can happen anywhere in any town,” said David Meeks, State Representative for District 70.

Meeks has been active in strengthening Arkansas’s laws against human trafficking. He warns cases like this are still happening too often. This arrest happened Wednesday night at an unnamed south Little Rock motel.

Fox 16 asked several hotel owners in that part of town about it. They said they had no idea this was going on and it was not at their business.

Authorities also found two smaller children staying in the room with Johnson–ages two and three.

“They are going to do it whatever they feel comfortable doing it, where ever they feel they can get away with and fly under the radar doing it.”

According to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center, there were more than 100 calls about human trafficking in the state last year.

“It’s here in Arkansas, It’s something we have to deal with and something we have to combat,” said Meeks.
