Bald Eagle Released Back Into The Wild

DEGRAY LAKE, AR — A once injured bald eagle is released back into the wild today. The release happened at Degray Lake in Southwest Arkansas this afternoon.

Dozens of people gathered around to see the beauty take to the sky. The man who helped release the bird is Rodney Paul with the Raptor Rehab of Central Arkansas.

He said, “It’s really exhilarating. I love it. It’s why we do it.”

Another bald eagle, is also receiving care at Raptor Rehab of Central Arkansas. A couple of duck hunters found the bird with a shotgun pellet in it’s right wing this week. It’s wing was broken. But, the bird is expected to make a full recovery and be released back into the wild in about three months.

Shooting a protected species is a federal crime.
