FAULKNER COUNTY, AR – A parolee has been wounded by a sheriff’s deputy in an early morning drug bust.

The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) says via Facebook that it happened at a home on Linder Road in the Spring Hill community around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the FCSO, deputies were assisting the 20th Judicial Drug Task Force and the DEA in serving a search warrant for drugs and guns.

Two women were first taken into custody without incident but the third suspect, identified as John Paul York, 34, allegedly resisted arrest and grabbed a deputy’s AR-15 rifle.

During a struggle over the weapon with the deputy, York was shot by another deputy. York was first treated at the scene and was then flown to a hospital.  His wound is not believed to be life-threatening.

The deputy who shot the suspect has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation, per policy.

The FCSO says there was a large amount of methamphetamine recovered, along with a stolen tractor, a stolen boat and a stolen truck.

There was a search warrant served simultaneously in Pulaski County targeting stolen property involving the suspect.

York faces a string of charges.
