SWAT Team Standoff Sends Man to Jail

BELLA VISTA, AR– A man is in custody after barricading himself in a house on Thursday.

According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), the standoff started around noon at a house on Roxburgh Drive.

Deputy Keisha Guyll said 60-year-old Brian Patrick Murphy was going through a divorce, and when civil deputies showed up to take pictures of the house, he did not cooperate.

SWAT team members and criminal negotiators were called in because they said they once heard Murphy “racking shotgun shells inside.”

Guyll said he posed a threat to himself, so SWAT forced entry. Once they were inside, Guyll said he cooperated and was taken into custody.

Murphy was taken to the hospital after complaining of chronic back pain, but Guyll says he was not injured in the standoff.
