TEXARKANA, AR – A student was arrested after bringing a loaded gun to Arkansas High School’s campus.
Police said that on Wednesday, a 17-year-old was caught with a small caliber handgun. School officials said he is in a “second chance” program for teenagers with disciplinary problems and was not in the high school’s main building.
“A quick response by a student, a staff member is an indication that our training is working. You hope you never have to use this type of training. It gives you peace of mind to know that they are well trained and they know how to respond,” said Superintendent Dr. Becky Kesler
The police investigation is ongoing.
The student faces a felony gun possession charge and will likely be expelled from school for one year.
