‘Topping Off Ceremony’ for Centennial Stadium Expansion

JONESBORO, AR (News Release) – The Arkansas State Athletics Department announced Friday it will hold a “topping off ceremony” at Centennial Bank Stadium Tuesday, April 7, at 1 p.m., when the final iron beam will be placed on the stadium’s new press box as part of the Red Wolves’ Centennial Expansion construction project.

The milestone event will be open to the public, and the ceremony will take place outside the concourse area on the west side of Centennial Bank Stadium.  Due to construction on the west side of the stadium, the public is asked to park in the lot on the south side of the stadium adjacent to the practice fields.

Donning ceremonial hard hats with the Ramsons construction company’s logo on one side and an A-State logo on the other, dignitaries associated with Arkansas State University and its athletics department will be in attendance and address the crowd as part of the event.

Arkansas State held a press conference on August 26, 2014, announcing the largest donation in A-State Athletics history, a $5 million gift by alumnus Johnny Allison being used in conjunction with Centennial Expansion.  Construction and renovations to the stadium’s press box and west-side concourse began before the end of the 2014 football season and will be completed prior to the Red Wolves’ 2015 home opener against defending SEC East champion Missouri.
