BENTON, AR – A Benton man is behind bars on drug charges after he was pulled over for a traffic violation on Tuesday.

Just after 1 p.m. an officer with the Benton Police Department pulled over a vehicle in the area of Silica Heights Road for speeding and other traffic infractions.

When officers spoke with driver, identified as Robert Granderson, 35, of Benton, he told the officer that his license was suspended. The officer also found a pipe commonly used to smoke illegal drugs in the vehicle along with meth.

According to a report a loaded firearm that had been reported stolen out of Little Rock was also found in Granderson’s vehicle.

Granderson was arrested and taken to the Saline County Detention Facility. He is charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Driving on Suspended Drivers License, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and a Firearm, Unsafe Driving, Unauthorized Use of Another Person’s Property to Facilitate a Crime, and Theft by Receiving. This is an on-going investigation and additional charges could be forthcoming.
