Tub races take over Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, AR – Saturday morning, fifteen teams raced homemade bathtubs through the streets of Hot Springs.

The racing of the tubs goes right through Bathhouse Row. Teams build their own tubs, then race them while wearing hats and suspenders.

They also have to run while dodging water balloons, super-soakers and other obstacles.

The team from the Ouachita Job Corp won this year’s Modified Division and gets to keep the giant trophy for the next year.

“It feels great because you see, if you saw the race, a lot of the other tubs were excellent. We felt like the Little Rascals in the race. We didn’t have the best tub, but we came home with the trophy,” said Don Farris from the Ouachita Job Corp.

Proceeds benefit the Hot Springs Downtown Merchants Christmas Tree Fund.
