FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KNWA) — The University of Arkansas Police Department (UAPD) is looking into a sexual assault reported on Monday.
The agency says a student reported the assault occurred on Feb. 26 in the Harmon Parking Garage on campus. The student told police a white man approached her there, asking for help to jump start his car.
She told police he then grabbed her with one hand and touched her under her clothes. She was able to get to her car and drive away. The student described the man as 50-60 years old with white hair and around 5’6″ tall.
Gary Crain with the UAPD hopes anyone with information will come forward.
“We do want anyone who has any information, however insignificant they might think it is, it may be the piece of information we need to identify this suspect,” he said.
Just last Friday, another assault report was filed with the Fayetteville Police Department. In that case, officers say a minor was touched inappropriately while volunteering at a community event at a Kamp Laundry in south Fayetteville.
The man in that case is described as being in his 50’s, with gray hair and missing front teeth.
The two departments say they do not have enough evidence to believe these two cases are related, but they are sharing information.
The mother of the laundry incident victim says her family was volunteering with their church at the laundry by offering food and clean clothes for the homeless. That’s when the man in the picture above approached her daughter and others just outside of the event.
“The kids were outside of this place, playing, and eating. Someone walked up,” the mother said.
She described the assailant as “Around 5’6″, older gentleman, I would say late 50’s, early 60’s, gray hair, teeth missing. I will stop at nothing to make sure that justice is served, I will not stop, until he is apprehended,” she continued.
The man was chased from the event, but got away and has not yet been found.
Both the Fayetteville Police Department and the UAPD are urging anyone with information on these cases to come forward.
