Unsolved Cases: Who Killed Robert Ryan Hunter?

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – On September 18, 2016, police cars, flashing lights and crime scene tape took over Shadow Lake Apartment Complex in west Little Rock — where 26-year-old Robert Ryan Hunter’s body was found slain with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers arrived at the scene on W. Markham around 10:30 that morning, a Sunday. They were met by a hysterical female, screaming that her boyfriend had been shot inside the apartments.

Hunter was pronounced dead at the scene. He was killed in his own apartment.

“Much too tragic to be murdered, much too tragic… And that’s where I want to emphasize mentorship, faith-based organizations… Get involved, because this is not something we can do alone,” Lt. McClanahan said, at the time of the murder.

The LRPD still has no suspect information but believes robbery was the motive.

According to his obituary, Hunter left behind a host of family and loved ones, as well as a career as the owner and operator of Stylus Kuts and Salon LLC.

“Ryan’s loving and unique personality would not just allow him to make friends, he created a brotherhood and special bond with everyone he met,” his obituary read.

That September 2016 weekend, Little Rock saw back-to-back murders, with the killing of 45-year-old Malik Mumit the night before Hunter’s death. Both men’s murders remain unsolved.
