Update: Clark Co. Jail Employee Commits Suicide Following Arrest

Update (Feb. 24):
CLARK COUNTY, AR – The Pike County Sheriff’s Office confirms that 25-year-old William Sayre committed suicide in his jail cell in Pike County on Monday.

Police took Sayre, of Nashville and Robert L. Williams, 28, of Arkadelphia into custody on February 13 following an investigation of Second Degree Battery against a jail inmate.

Police are continuing to investigate.

Original Story (Feb. 13):
CLARK COUNTY, AR – Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division have arrested two Clark County Jail employees who are charged with Second Degree Battery against a jail inmate.

Police took William D. Sayre, 25, of Nashville and Robert L. Williams, 28, of Arkadelphia into custody on Friday following an investigation that began earlier this week at the request of Blake Batson, Clark County Prosecuting Attorney.

The Arkansas State Police investigation is continuing. Any questions relating to the administrative status of the two jailers should be directed to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.
