MAGNOLIA, AR (KTVE) – A suspect has been arrested in a weekend shooting that killed a football player with Southern Arkansas University (SAU).

Police arrested Byron Dunn, 20, around 11:30 Monday night.

He’s charged in the Sunday morning incident that claimed the lives of SAU wide receiver Brandon Hobdy, 23, and Wayne Payton, 24.

The shooting happened outside a Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) lodge where some SAU students had gathered for a back to school party.

According to police, Dunn is not an SAU student.

Dunn had his first appearance in court Tuesday and was charged with committing a terroristic act.

He was told to expect to be back in court Wednesday to face additional charges.

Dunn’s bond was set at $1 million.
