PULASKI COUNTY, AR — Police have identified the man suspected of engaging in a shootout with law enforcement as an officer attempted to execute a warrant Friday morning.
Mark Lyle Dodson, 53, is at Baptist Hospital in Springhill being treated for injuries suffered during the incident. The exact number of offense counts has not been finalized as the investigation is ongoing, but he will be charged with criminal attempt to commit capital murder.
Police are unsure of when Dodson will be released from the hospital and booked into the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility.
Law enforcement will not release the name of the SWAT officer until Monday, but the officer has been treated and released from the hospital.

LITTLE ROCK, AR — The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is reporting an officer-involved shooting.
The shooting happened around 6:20 a.m. at 2300 Backbone Road in Pulaski County.
Jacksonville SWAT team, DEA, PCSO narcotics arrived at the location to execute a warrant when shots were fired.
Both the officer and suspect are in the hospital, the suspect is reported to be in serious condition and the officer suffering non life-threatening injuries.
The officer is with the Jacksonville Police Department.
The investigation caused Lonnie Jerry to be blocked from her home for more than an hour.
“This is actually a peaceful road and always was a peaceful road,” said Lonnie Jerry.
Jerry says she isn’t surprised the incident stems from a drug case.
“There have been cars in and out and I was suspecting something, but I didn’t know,” said Jerry.
Deputies say the incident is an example of the danger they face everyday.
“It’s just a reminder we have to stay alert and be vigilant when we are conducting these type of things,” said Lt. Carl Minden.
