NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – An investigation is underway after North Little Rock police officers were involved in a shooting.

It happened at a home on N. Schaer Street shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday.

Officers were dispatched to the scene on a call about a suicidal woman.

Officers negotiated with her for nearly 45 minutes with no response.

Police say while officers tried to continue talking with her, the woman stood up and raised her gun towards police, causing four officers to fire a total of nine shots.

“Once officers fired their weapons they immediately transitioned into rescue mode, and applied tourniquets to the victim,” a police news release stated.

The woman was taken to UAMS for treatment. There’s no further word on her condition.

The prosecuting attorney is monitoring the investigation.
