Update (June 19th):
SHERWOOD, AR – A Sherwood escapee is now back in police custody after he ran from officers on Thursday morning.

On Friday at 2 p.m. officers found David Earl Jordan, 41, at the Barton Oaks Apartment Complex, in Little Rock.

Jordan was taken into custody without incident. His charges include Battery 2nd Degree, Fleeing, Escape 2nd Degree, and a 90 day commitment for contempt on hot checks.

Original Story (June 18th):
SHERWOOD, AR – A police search is underway after a man escapes from officers while being taken to jail.

It happened shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday in Sherwood.

The escapee is identified as David Earl Jordan, 41. Police describe him as black, 5’7″ tall and weighing about 275 pounds.

Jordan ran from officers then got into a grey 2005 Ford Escape with Arkansas license plate number 812 RWM. A woman described as white was sitting in the passenger seat when Jordan took the vehicle, police said. Her name has not been released.

Police say Jordan hit a court bailiff as he drove the vehicle out of the parking lot. The bailiff suffered minor injuries. 

Jordan had been charged with failure to pay hot checks and had appeared in Sherwood District Court this morning where he had received a 60 day jail commitment.

Sherwood Police say felony charges are now pending against Jordan to include Aggravated Assault. It is unknown if he is armed.  If you see Jordan, police advise not to approach him and contact your local law enforcement agency instead.
