INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR – Police and rescue crews responded to the scene of a five car accident on Highway 87 in Independence County which sent six people to the hospital Tuesday morning.
Tommy Jackson, with Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, told FOX16 that traffic was blocked in both directions after the accident, which took place between Flora and Pleasant Plains.
According to reports, six victims were taken to the White County Medical Center, where their conditions are unknown. One of the vehicles was an 18-wheeler. Another car was overturned, and crews had to cut one person out from inside.
