NEAR VAN BUREN, AR – A construction worker has been hit and killed by a car on I-40.
It happened around 6:30 this morning in Crawford County between the Van Buren and Alma exits.
Officials say the worker was laying some wire along the interstate when he was hit.

The victim has been identified as Kevin Anderson, 49, of Springdale. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Crawford County coroner.
Officials say he was a contract worker and was not employed with the state highway department.
The car that hit the man is a 2009 Volkswagen sedan. It was being driven by Jerry Estep, 26, of Coal Hill (Johnson County).
The accident backed up traffic for miles as investigators worked the scene.
