UPDATE: Team USA 4X100 Team Disqualified

Former Razorback Tyson Gay thought he had won his first Olympic medal after the Men’s 4×100 team finished 3rd in Rio. However after the race, the USA was disqualified because of the first baton exchange.

It marks the second straight Olympics that Team USA earned a disqualification in the 4×100 relay. After winning silver in 2012, the US team was stripped of its medals due to Gay’s drug ban for steroids in 2013.

It would have been the first medal for Gay and former Hog Jarrion Lawson who ran in the qualifier for the relay on Thursday morning.

Those two would have joined Omar McLeod (gold in 110m hurdles), Sandi Morris (Pole Vaults) and Veronica Campbell-Brown (4×100 women’s relay) as medal winners in the Rio Olympics.
