Update (July 10, 8:10 a.m.):
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – A Texas man has been identified as the person killed in an accident on Interstate 40 on Wednesday.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) accident report states that Ronnie L. Smith, 53, of Dallas, the driver of a 2012 Cadillac CTS, died at the scene.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. just east of I-440 in the westbound lanes of traffic.

The drivers of two semis were listed as injured in the crash. They include Richard Hubbard, 42, of Valdosta, Georgia, who was behind the wheel of a 2012 Peterbilt tractor trailer rig, and Virgil Rankins, 49, of North Little Rock, who was driving a 2007 Freightliner tractor trailer.

The ASP accident report states that five vehicles were traveling in the passing lane when only three of them slowed for traffic ahead. The Peterbilt rig then hit the rear of the Cadillac, pushing both of the vehicles into the Freightliner. The Freightliner then struck another semi, which slid into a fourth semi.

The drivers of the third and fourth semis were not injured.

Update (8:50 p.m.):
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – Police are releasing more details about the fatal accident on Interstate 40 West. 

According to Arkansas State Police, traffic had slowed due to a minor accident on I-40 West near mile marker 161 when the four-vehicle collision occurred. 

The wreck involved three tractor trailer rigs and a sedan. 

The one occupant in the sedan, whose identity has not been released, died in the accident. 

One lane of I-40 West has been reopened. 

Police are continuing to investigate. 

Update (5:30 p.m.):
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR – One person has died in the four-vehicle accident on I-40 in North Little Rock. 

According the North Little Rock Fire Department, the wreck involving 3 semi-trucks and a car has killed one individual.

LITTLE ROCK, AR – We have just learned of an accident involving three semis and one car at mile marker 161 on I-40 in North Little Rock.

There are reports of injuries.
