Washington Co. Most Wanted Suspect Arrested in Oklahoma

WASHINGTON COUNTY, AR (KNWA) – A man on Washington County’s Most Wanted list is now behind bars.

Deputies say they, along with U.S. Marshals, arrested Bart Woodard, 49, in Tulsa, Oklahoma this week. Woodard has been on the county’s Most Wanted list since 2011.

In May of 2011, investigators say Woodard and another man robbed a Springdale jewelry store, shooting the clerk with a taser. The clerk told Springdale police a Hispanic man was pushing a white man in a wheelchair in the store.

She says when she asked the man in the wheelchair for an ID to buy some earrings, he instead pulled out a taser and ordered her to the ground. The clerk says the white man tried to tie her up with zip ties, and while they were struggling, the Hispanic man stole jewelry from a display case. The woman told police the two robbers dropped the bag of stolen jewelry in the parking lot as they tried to get away.

When shown a photograph of Woodard, police say the clerk positively identified him as the white man in the wheelchair. Several of the hand prints left at the scene also matched Woodard.

According to detectives, in 2010, Bart Woodard and Elizabeth Woodard stole two skid steer loaders from a construction company. Investigators say Bart Woodard rented the equipment from Volvo Rents, under the name of a company he operated called Trinity Construction.

Volvo Rents employees told detectives they dropped the skid loaders off at the job site, but when they returned to pick them up, the loaders were gone.

A witness reported seeing Bart Woodard loading the equipment onto a trailer and driving away.

Elizabeth Woodard was also arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma for a probation violation and Theft of Leased Services.

Bart Woodard faces charges of Theft by Receiving, Accomplice, Aggravated Robbery and Failure to Appear.
