DARDANELLE, Ark. – The Yell County Sheriff’s Department has called off the active search efforts in the Bay Ridge area near Highway 22 outside Dardanelle after tracking dogs were unable to locate the two suspects, who got into a scuffle with an officer, when storms moved in.
A Yell County officer reported making contact with two white males, one with a white tank top and one with a blue shirt, who were walking along the highway.
An altercation occurred when he stopped to check them out.
The officer was treated at an area hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the assault on the officer.
The Yell County Sheriff’s Office reports Dardanelle police, the Plainview Marshal, Ola police, Yell Co Mounted Patrol, Arkansas State Police, Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Game and Fish, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and US Forest Service Law Enforcement officers responded.
