District Will Vote Thursday to Hire New NLRHS Head Football Coach

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR (News release) – The North Little Rock School District Superintendent Kelly Rodgers will recommend the hiring of Jamie Mitchell as head football coach at the North Little Rock High School at a Special Board meeting on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 2700 North Poplar Street at 5:30 p.m. in the Board room.

After graduating from Pontotoc High School, Coach Mitchell attended Itawamba Junior College and Mississippi State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree.

Mitchell is not new to the game and brings a breath of experience, having played football in high school and college and coached the sport over the last 18 years.

Coach Mitchell has spent the last five seasons as the head football coach and assistant athletic director at Starkville High School in Starkville, MS. Mitchell was named the 2014 Mississippi High School Football All-Star team head coach. This is one of the highest honors for a high school football coach in Mississippi. In 2014, his team was nationally ranked #14 in USA Today and #4 with Max Preps. Prior to that, he served as the head football coach at Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton, MS.
