LITTLE ROCK, AR – A local newspaper is reporting that a North Little Rock High School athlete’s family member received a check for hundreds of dollars that led to a forfeit of the 2013 boys basketball state championship.

The Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that the money went to the stepfather of K.J. Hill, a dual athlete who announced just this week that he will play college football for Ohio State.

Citing documents it obtained on Friday, the paper reports that a $600 check was made out to Montez Peterson, Hill’s stepfather, and signed by a member of the NLR Athletic Foundation, a private booster group that has purchased equipment for the football team.
