Razorback Recruiting Tidbits for Sunday, June 23

By Otis Kirk

Highland Park (Texas) quarterback Chandler Morris will be among the quarterbacks participating in the Elite 11 finals beginning Friday in Frisco, Texas.

Morris, who committed to Arkansas on June 14, is the son of Razorback coach Chad Morris. Morris helped lead the Scots to a state title in 2018. In a 27-17 victory over Alvin Shadow Creek, Morris was named Offensive MVP when he completed 23 of 35 passes for 262 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

For the season, Morris completed 266 of 411 passes for 4,055 yards, 46 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed 131 times for 652 yards and 19 touchdowns.

He chose the Hogs over offers from Clemson, Oklahoma, Auburn and many others.

At the Elite 11, he will compete with Morrilton’s Jacolby Criswell, Longview (Texas) High’s Haynes King, Austin (Texas) Lake Travis’ Hudson Card and others. For the full list click here. Card is committed to Texas, Criswell to North Carolina and King is still undecided.

The event is free to attend if any fan is in that area and wants to check out Morris and the others.

DB Offered

Arkansas offered Harvey (La.) Helen Cox cornerback Rae’Kwon Starks, 5-10, 175, this weekend. He committed to Texas San Antonio on April 8.

The Hogs have New Orleans (La.) Edna Karr cornerback Jamie Vance committed. Vance camped at LSU this weekend.

The Hogs hope to sign 4-5 cornerbacks and nickel backs in the Class of 2020. They also hope to add 1-2 safeties.

Starks’ highlights are pretty impressive.

He also holds offers to Houston, UAB, Tulane, Nicholls State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana, Grambling State, Richmond, Southern Miss, Northwestern State, Southern and Utah State.

Waiting for Two

Arkansas is awaiting word from Hazen defensive end Blayne Toll and Houston Cy Ridge defensive lineman Vernon Broughton.

Toll was at Tennessee for an official visit this weekend while Broughton visited Texas A&M. Toll is expected to choose between the Hogs, Oklahoma and Tennessee while Broughton is down to the Hogs, Aggies, Texas, Ohio State and LSU.
