FAYETTEVILLE, AR — According to the Arkansas Times, U of A Athletic Director Jeff Long will get a big raise just days after rumors spread Long was a finalist for the same position at Texas.
Long shut down the rumors via Twitter on Sunday night saying, “I’m not seeking a position or engaged in the search process of another University…I’m proud to be a Vice Chancellor & the Director of Athletics at the U of A.”
Now, the Arkansas Times reports Kevin Trainor, associate athletic director, confirmed Long will receive “a $100,000 bonus payment to be paid later this month and an increase in his annual guaranteed pay — currently $900,000 — of $100,000 effective Nov. 1, with another $100,000 increase scheduled July 1. In return, the buyout Long must pay if he leaves rises to $1.3 million, from the previous $1 million, through 2015.”
