BENTON, AR – A Jonesboro man is facing his fourth charge of drunk driving after being arrested in Benton.

The Benton Police Department (BNPD) says Andrew Powell, 46, was arrested Tuesday night just before 10:30 on an interstate service road.

Officers reported seeing Powell’s vehicle heading east on the North I-30 Service Road under the South St. overpass, which is designated as one-way for westbound traffic only.

Police made a traffic stop and said Powell was arrested for suspicion of DWI based on their observations and evidence.

Powell was taken to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing without incident.

He is charged with DWI-4th Offense (Felony), Wrong Way on a One Way, Careless Driving, Drinking on the Highway, and Tampering with an Ignition Interlock Device. Police say the tampering charge stems from evidence suggesting a court mandated ignition interlock device on Powell’s vehicle had been bypassed.
